The sheriff FAQ says that, once an inmate is released, only release date and time remain public in the online inmate information system. That means a name search may confirm that release occurred without continuing to display the same level of charges, location, or custody-session detail that was visible before release.

The Main Jail is also tied to Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center releases. RCCC instructions say a person who is not picked up during the early gatehouse release window is transported by sheriff bus and released downtown at the Main Jail after 5:30 a.m. A family member may therefore hear that the custody event began at RCCC but find the person physically released downtown. What the Online Record Leaves Out

A released Main Jail record should not be treated as a full criminal-history file. If the sheriff record lists a federal hold, immigration hold, parole hold, or probation violation, the Main Jail release may not mean community release. A federal hold can lead to U.S. Marshals or BOP routing; an immigration hold can lead to ICE custody; a parole hold is a CDCR matter; and a probation violation may return to court or probation channels. The safest reading is to confirm the release manner, not just the release time.
